With only six professional players, Boulazac, long dominated, managed to win its first preparation match in Bordeaux (87-85 against Pau-Lacq-Orthez), with a 9-0 to finish.

While the two teams won't be playing in the same division this season, the gap was more than leveled by absences this Friday evening. On the Béarn side, only Sitraka Raharimanantoanina, who had just returned from international duty, was absent. In Boulazac, while awaiting the arrival of the tenth professional, the latest recruit, Malik Fitts, was of course absent, while Cyrille Eliezer-Vanerot and Hugo Robineau were on the bench in civilian clothes.

Hence four Boulazacois hopefuls on the scoresheet. But only one on the court at the start: forward Jean Noba, who missed his two free throws after a big foul from Marvin Clark to prevent the dunk. Essomé Miyem did no better in the aftermath and, as the long-distance shooters were not adjusted, it was necessary to wait two minutes for the first points, the work of Bryce Nze for Élan Béarnais. With a first three-pointer from Bastien Pinault, Pau-Lacq-Orthez took the lead (0-5, 3rd).

He quickly did it again, but Essomé Miyem, after having deflowered the Périgord score, scored from behind the arc. He launched an 8-0 run concluded by the first 3-pointer in France from the Israeli Amit Ebo (14-12, 6th). The Pau team quickly recovered (14-19, 8th). Thomas Ville and the young Hugo Lasalvary, with 3-pointers, brought their team back (20-21, 9th) but Drew Thelwell recreated a gap (20-28, 10th).

Laggard match

In the tough as soon as he entered the rotations, the BBD hung on, committing few faults. Unlike the Béarnais, quickly in the penalty during the first two quarters. Krubally and Miyem brought Boulazac closer (26-30, 13th) but Pinault came back into business (26-37, 14th). And Ebo had to work hard, notably from more than 6m75, Josh Mballa and the Élan remained well in front (34-46, 17th).

KJ Williams' efforts tightened things up a bit at halftime (44-51). Just enough time for Clark to send two missiles after the break (44-57, 22nd). However, Boulazacois then defended harder. And Ousman Krubally, at full tilt, gradually brought them back (58-62, 27th).

However, Thelwell finally found his way back to respond to Lasalvary and recreate a margin that grew via "and ones", notably for the young Nathan Assira Engoute (66-77, 32nd). The deal seemed to be in the bag for the Pau players, when Williams and then Ebo, twice, rekindled the suspense from afar (84-85, 38th). Krubally then offered himself a bonus shot while Clark missed his own. Pinault then missed the equalizer at the buzzer and the Périgord hold-up was there.
