Cameroonian Bryan Mbeumo, the most expensive African footballer in history
The transfer was made official by Manchester United on Tuesday, July 22, just hours before the team left for a tour of the United States as part of its summer preparations. Bryan Mbeumo, a Cameroonian native of Avallon (Yonne), France, was bought from Brentford for €81 million, becoming the most expensive African player in history.
His accomplishments speak for themselves. Over the past six seasons, the Cameroonian national team striker has scored 70 goals and provided 51 assists in all competitions with his former club. Bryan Mbeumo, 25, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2030, will see his monthly salary increase from €200,000 to €708,000, excluding bonuses.
Shortly after signing, the Red Devils' new signing told the media that he had chosen "the team of my dreams, the shirt of which I wore when I was young." "It's a turning point in my career. He's going from a modest club to one of the best in the world and it will probably take him a little time to adapt. But he knows the Premier League well, that's a big asset, and he's a determined player," said Frenchman Sébastien Migné, Haiti coach, who was Rigobert Song's assistant in Cameroon.
