Fencing: The CEB draws up its end-of-season report

Fencing: The CEB draws up its end-of-season report
The CEB had a very good season. club

The Boulazac fencing club is bowing out after a season rich in medals, a notable presence up to the French championships and a recognized training of young talents.

At the CEB, it's time to put away the equipment and do a summer "clean-up" of the fencing room, marking the end of the sporting season for all the fencers, except for Amaia Baraton and Ronan Prioult, who will have a one-week bonus by being selected for the M15 national training camp, which brings together the fourteen best national male and female epee fencers in the category. A great recognition for the Boulazac club.

This end of the sporting season is therefore an opportunity to take a look back and take stock of the sporting and associative aspects of the first season after the 2024 Olympic Games.

Full of medals

"There wasn't a real impact from the famous 'Olympic Games effect,' but rather a general dynamic upstream with school interventions more focused on Olympic sports, including fencing," explains Olivier Baraton. True to its associative project based on fencing for all, the CEB has continued its actions in favor of disabled sports with the departmental committee but also with PEPS Dordogne on health sports. Projects are currently being considered, such as a disabled sports section and a fitness segment.

On the sporting front, the Boulazac club was present at the departmental level with 17 medals, including nine out of fourteen titles, but also at the regional level. The CEB made its mark with 18 regional medals, including eight titles, such as the senior men's team title, but also the individual title with Mathieu Gauvert. Not to mention the individual double for Amaia Baraton in M15 and M17, who completed her regional record with a team title in M20 with Adélina Ferreira, who also won the regional title in M20 and a fine bronze medal in senior promotion. A level where the CEB knows how to be present in several categories with the fine bronze medals in M13 in teams and individuals for Justin Lafaye and especially with the title in the women's category for Caly Auguste. William Vert, for his part, won the regional title in combat lightsaber.

The CEB internationally

Boulazac also managed to export herself with Raphaël Hoareau-Berkani in the selection under the colors of Algeria for the World Cup of épée in Paris. Amaia Baraton will also have flown the colors of the CEB with the France M17 group by being selected for the world challenge of Grenoble (6th French) then for the European circuit of Bratislava (7th French) and that of Krakow (5th French) and finishing a few touches from a selection for the European championships in Antalya. She also won the national circuit U17 of Basel.

Finally, at the national level, the CEB continued its strong momentum with 22 qualifiers for the various categories from U13 to veterans and seniors. These finals also highlighted the CEB's federal pre-training center, once again accredited and certified by the FFE, created in 2022. The young epee fencers brought home three national medals, including a title with Amaia Baraton.
