Following the success of the swim at La Croix-Valmer, two other dates are planned between now and mid-August.

On July 17, 78 swimmers participated in the "Swimming Crossing," organized by the La Croix-Valmer municipal sports department. Two new editions are planned: Thursday, July 31 and Thursday, August 14.
While the finish line still takes place on the D-Day landing beach, east of the pontoon, the departure times vary depending on the chosen distance. This time, 33 participants set off at 8 a.m. from Vergeron beach for a 1.5km course, while 45 others set off from Gigaro for a 3.5km event.
Rescuers in force! In the 1.5km, victory went to Ferréol Schoenig (ASPTT Mulhouse) in 21' and 51”, closely followed by the young Théo Pécriaux (Enfant Club de Neptune), who finished in 21' and 53”. On the women's side, Clara Frenneaux (Charleville-Mézières Natation) finished first in 24' and 10”.
Notable fact: several of the best times were achieved by lifeguards from Cavalaire-sur-Mer, exceptionally freed from their posts to participate in the race: Théo Pécriaux, Benjamin Cailleau (9th), Grégory Sendao (4th) and Tom Gorrein (14th).
A performance enthusiastically welcomed by the organizers, Claire Degardin and Olivia Feydel, who now hope to see local lifeguards follow this example during future crossings.
Over the long distance (3.5km), the best time was achieved by Alexandre Bouvier-Gonget of CN Cannes, although registered in the junior category, in 43' and 53”.
The last person to cross the finish line did not disappoint. Cyril Sultan, on vacation in Sainte-Maxime, arrived all smiles after completing the race, cheered on by his family. Although none of them are swimmers—their parents, Sabine and Cyril, are marathon runners, Gabrielle doesn't play any sports, and Daniel, the son, plays tennis—they all took to the start line, inspired by their friends, Élie and Estelle Lobel, who finished 21st and 28th in the 1.5km.
Upon his arrival, Cyril warmly thanked the teams involved: the sports department, the school administration for supplies, and the municipal police for safety at sea. He plans to sign up again but is currently undecided between the distances.
All the results are available on the website www.kms.fr. Var-matin congratulates all the participants for their great energy and sportsmanship!
