Football in Dordogne: Between Tocane and Sarlat B, a final under the sign of the offensive in D2?

The Departmental 2 championship final, on Sunday June 15, pits two teams on a very strong dynamic for two years, who finished first and second in D2.
As is tradition, the last official sporting event in the Dordogne District will be the Departmental 2 final, pitting Tocane-Saint-Apre, leaders of Group A, against Sarlat/Marcillac B, winners of Group B, on Sunday, June 15. The final whistle of this match will be the last to be blown for a district match, and it could come at the end of a spectacular match. Both teams have gone crazy, with 81 and 66 goals respectively scored in 22 matches.
On the Tocane side, things are unstoppable. Last summer, a project was launched, around the arrival of a new coach, Vincent Faure. Success has been forthcoming: second place in D3 and victory in the Séripub24.fr Challenge last year, and promotion to D1 with first place in D2 and therefore a new final, this time in the championship, this season. For the club's 100th anniversary, which will be celebrated on June 28, it's hard to dream of better. The results have exceeded the objectives.
"After promotion to D2, the goal was to stabilize. We kept the squad and brought back former club members, motivated by the challenge and the club's 100th anniversary. It took time for everyone to find their place, but the momentum has taken hold. What the boys have done is exceptional. We're approaching the final with great serenity, with last year's experience. It will be difficult, against a young, playful, attacking team, but we want to be a key player in this match," explains Vincent Faure.
A Sarladais double?Opposite, the Sarlat/Marcillac reserve team is also part of a new project, with a promising results dynamic. "There have been staff changes, new employees at the club, a real comfort level. We didn't put pressure on ourselves to have to move up, but the ambition was to be in the top 4 at the break," begins coach Rémi Desmartin. Mission accomplished by his team, with a record of 10 wins, one draw, and no defeats. But things got complicated at the start of 2025.
After three defeats in four matches, FCSM turned things around, finishing on a high note with six wins and a draw. And last weekend, a victory in the District Cup final against Ribérac B (3-0) . "We quickly turned the tide after this victory. We can make history for the club with the opportunity to go for a double. Tocane is a playful, dynamic team. Against Ribérac, there was a physical dimension, this will be a tactical battle," warns Rémi Desmartin.
