Former AS Cannes player Alex Gallet joins Marco Simone's Monaco United FC women's team

Paradoxically, it was an injury, the famous cruciate ligament, that most likely caused Alex Gallet (29 years old) to fall into disarray in his professional life. Out with football as a player, in with fitness coach.
The journey of this Northerner by birth but Cannes resident at heart has not been easy... before leading to a superb adventure with the women's team of Marco Simone's Monaco United FC.
Arriving in the city of cinema at the age of 2, Alex, a football enthusiast, has experienced everything with the ASC, from the U7s to the Seniors, with a coach named David Bettoni in the 19 Nationals, "who always gives me advice when I need it."
Dreaming of a life as a professional footballer, Alex Gallet saw his plans collapse at the age of 21 after a back injury and therefore the famous cruciate ligaments while playing for Mouans-Sartoux.
"I had to draw a line under football while moving on to the other side," he says. "It was frustrating, especially since I saw myself continuing with Cannes. After the disappointment, I developed a taste for re-athleticism, I found it rewarding to help others."
After completing a university course in physical training (in Nice and Bordeaux), and obtaining his European Diploma in Physical Training (DUEPP) in Lyon, Alex Gallet completed an internship with the Girondins de Bordeaux (N3). A turning point.
"Being at the heart of a staff, rediscovering the taste of competition, that's what I wanted to do. As an anecdote, some players took me for a new recruit because I was their age!"
At CREPS in AntibesAfter a stint at FC Lyon, the former striker returned to the Côte d'Azur, more specifically to FC Mougins, where he spent five seasons as head of physical preparation and second assistant to the first team (R2). "We had a great run in the Coupe de France (6 rounds) and a promotion to R2, but I had done my time at the club."
The Cannes native bounced back at the Michel Hidalgo Football Academy at CREPS in Antibes, as an assistant coach and fitness trainer. "It was an interesting project, a more professional structure than an amateur club. It was a second wind for me, working with young foreign footballers."
After two seasons, it's time to move on to a new project: the Bourg-en-Bresse reserve team or Cavigal (17 Nationals). "David Bettoni recommended Cavigal to me and I joined Nice. But, at the beginning of August, I received a call from Marco Simone asking me to join him at Monaco United! I was surprised and I had three days to respond. I accepted because it was more interesting in the long term and financially. Thanks to Cavigal who understood my decision."
Coach for the Real Madrid FoundationAt Monaco United FC, Alex discovers a new world: professional staff, club-branded buses, comprehensive infrastructure at La Colle-sur-Loup and a prestigious coach.
"I came to be the physical trainer but today I am also Marco's assistant, I like having this double role and it shows his confidence in me."
However, this summer, Alex could have joined AS Cannes after an interview with Bernard Lambourde and Sébastien Perez.
"For me, the club's child, the circle would have been complete. Especially with my father, who was a speaker at the club, and my brother, Samuel Delcroix, a former player. We have a real family connection with the club. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything... It's a shame."
Finally, Alexandre Gallet was contacted by the Real Madrid Foundation for the summer coaching internships. After a successful first experience, the sports coach will repeat the experience next October.
A 2025-2026 season that promises to be rich and intense.
