Germany: Twenty-five people injured at Hamburg stadium after club's promotion to the Bundesliga

Twenty-five people were injured at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg on Saturday evening, May 10, including one who was "between life and death," according to the fire department of Germany's second largest city, during celebrations for Hamburger SV's (HSV) promotion to the Bundesliga, the first division of German football, after their 6-1 victory against Ulm in front of 56,500 spectators.
"After the final whistle of the match, football fans invaded the pitch. As a result, some fans were injured," the Hamburg fire department said in a statement released Sunday morning. Around 65 members of the city's emergency services and fire brigade were deployed.
"Since then, 44 people have received medical treatment. Five people were slightly injured, 19 were seriously injured and one person is between life and death," the statement said. HSV had been relegated to the Bundeliga 2, the second division, for the first time in its history in 2018 and managed to return to the Bundesliga on its seventh attempt.
