LIVE. Giro 2025: They're giving it a try! Six riders in the lead, follow the third stage

Interviewed on the sidelines of this third stage by the Eurosport mircos, Mads Pedersen was cautious but confident : "It's a very interesting stage. There can be many scenarios. The climb is long and difficult. But I believe that with the help of my teammates I can pass the many passes without any problems. A lot has happened since the Vuelta 2022, I am a better climber."
Alessandro Tonelli (Visit Malta) won the first sprint of the stage, but no bonus is awarded for this sprint.
Below is one of the videos of the first kilometers which shows very good collaboration between the 4 leading men

Despite a fairly sustained pace from the four leaders, the Italian Alessandro Tonelli and the Belgian Dries De Bondt managed to catch up. They are now six at the front of the race with a 2'51" lead over the peloton.
After 23 km of racing on relatively flat terrain, the breakaway managed to gain a 2'31 lead over the peloton. And the gap gradually increased.
Asked yesterday about his desire to keep the pink jersey for the first week, Roglic appeared calm without ignoring the possibility of giving it up today. " Usually, we dream of having it in Rome instead. So I'm going to take it day by day and try to enjoy it, you never know when it will be the last day. Because in general, it's always easier to lose than to take it."
Joshua Traling, winner of yesterday's time trial, is one of the four breakaway riders, accompanied by Lorenzo Germani (Groupama-FDJ), Chris Hamilton (Picnic PostNL) and Mark Donovan (Q36.5). Alessandro Tonelli and Dries De Bondt are trying to catch up.
This 3rd stage of the Giro, 160 kilometers long, will conclude the Albanian stay with a promising confrontation between bold adventurers and the leaders of the general classification. The first half of the route, punctuated by hilly terrain, should favor attacks from afar. But the real selection could come on the demanding climb of the Qafa e Llogarase pass (10.7 km at 7.4%), an ideal setting for creating gaps. Once the summit is reached, there are still 39 kilometers to go, consisting of a long, technical descent followed by a flat finale on wide roads along the Adriatic. This profile could encourage a late regrouping, or even a sprint between strong riders. In this context, Primož Roglič, fresh from his pink jersey, could choose not to defend his jersey at all costs, preferring to conserve his strength for the more decisive stages to come.
From the start, a breakaway led by Mattia Bais (Eolo Kometa) and Quentin Pacher (Groupama FDJ) formed quickly but the peloton did not let itself be left behind and remained on the lookout.
