Monaco Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc sets fastest time in final practice session before qualifying, Hamilton hits the rail at Casino

The final "practice" session before the eagerly awaited qualifying session took place this Saturday afternoon. For Charles Leclerc, the plan appeared to have gone smoothly. Just like in Friday's sessions, the Monegasque driver dominated the session from start to finish, stealing the fastest time from Max Verstappen in the final minutes.

The Ferrari driver therefore achieved a titanic 1'10'953 on soft tires . This gives us hope for great things during the qualifying session which will take place at 4 p.m.

Visibly comfortable on his medium tires, Max Verstappen took second place with 1"11"233 . A great performance that his engineers will still have to work on. At the end of the session, the Dutchman complained of no more grip and being at the wheel of a car with "undriveable" tires.

Unlike Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton had a chaotic session. The latter, having started on the soft side, hit the right-hand side rail near the Casino . The session was red flagged and ended. The Ferrari was removed from the circuit.

Lying in ambush behind Verstappen, the McLarens set the 3rd and 4th fastest times in qualifying.

These three practice sessions promise to be very close qualifying sessions, where drivers will have to be even more precise than in free practice. See you at 4 p.m.!
