Pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie will jump at the Herculis meeting in Monaco on July 11

It's never a surprise to see Renaud Lavillenie arrive at the Herculis meeting in Monaco. Even at 38 years old, and if he no longer dominates the pole vault as in his prime, the Auvergnat remains a benchmark and a born competitor. On July 11, he couldn't miss a competition where the meeting record, the 6.02m of Poland's Piotr Lisek (2019), will be in great danger.
On the Louis-II jump, where he will attempt to improve on his 5.82m cleared this year, the Clermont-Ferrand athlete will face the current world record holder (6.28m), Sweden's Armand Duplantis. American Sam Kendricks and Greek Emmanouil Karalis, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at the Paris Olympic Games last summer, will also be competing.
Other highlightsPole vaulting won't be the only attraction of the evening in the Principality. The 800m could light up the evening. In addition to European champion and French record holder Gabriel Tual, already announced as Kenyan Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, other big names in the double lap track will be there: Marco Arop and Djamel Sedjati, 2nd and 3rd at the Paris Games, as well as Spaniard Mohamed Attaoui, world indoor champion Josh Hoey, Bryce Hoppel, and Slimane Moula.
In the 110m hurdles, the French Sasha Zhoya and Wilhem Belocian will face some tough competition from the Americans Cordell Tinch, Grant Holloway, Trey Cunningham and Dylan Beard.
In the 3000m steeplechase, the second and third best performers of the year will be at the start: Germany's Frederik Ruppert (8:01.49) and Ethiopia's Samuel Firewu (8:05.61). To arbitrate, we will have to count on Paris medalists Keneth Rooks, Olympic runner-up, and Kenyan Abraham Kibiwot. Les Bleus Alexis Miellet, 2024 European champion, and his runner-up in Rome, Djilali Bedrani, will try to make their mark.
