Roland-Garros 2025: the program for Saturday, June 7

Roland-Garros 2025: the program for Saturday, June 7

After defeating three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek in the semifinals on Thursday, world number one Aryna Sabalenka will compete for the title at Roland Garros for the first time in her career. The Belarusian will face American Coco Gauff, her second-place finisher in the WTA rankings, on Saturday, June 7, starting at 3 p.m.

The 27-year-old Minsk native has already won three Majors (Australian Open 2023 and 2024, US Open 2024) but had never done better than the semi-finals at Porte d'Auteuil last year. Her rival of the day, 21 years old and winner of the 2023 US Open − at the expense of Aryna Sabalenka − had been beaten in the three previous editions of "Roland" by Iga Swiatek, including once in the final in 2022.

This is the first time since 2018 that the WTA's No. 1 and No. 2 have met in a Grand Slam final. Back then, Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki defied expectations by defeating Romania's Simona Halep at the Australian Open.

The match is broadcast on France 2 and Amazon Prime Video.
