Rugby, National: Who are the new faces at CA Périgueux?
With a slightly smaller budget than last season, Didier Casadéi had to recruit more restrictively. Rémi Philippon

One day before the CAP players resume training, "DL" takes stock of the new players who arrived during the offseason. There are seven of them.

To compensate for the departures at the end of the season (Baptiste Arvouet to Belvès, Louis Martin to Vergt, Lucas Marijon (reconversion), Mathieu Pace (stop), Richard Fourcade to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Madioke Konaté to Massy, Masivesi Dakuwaqa to Nice, Paul Piveteau to Sarlat, Max Green, Benjamin Yarde to Isle Jourdain, Antonin Marinot and Ayrton Ribeiro to Langon, Thibault Amigorena to Orléans, Martin Bonhoure to Dax, Ugo Teulet to Graulhet and Mathis Lafforgue to Auch), the CAP announced the arrival of six players.

Reinforcement in front

The first is a 25-year-old French second row from Anglet (National 2): Charles Fourès. This solid 2m02 player will strengthen the forward pack. As will Maxime Lançon at hooker. For the latter, this is a return to the club after an adventure in New Zealand and a season at Langon (thirteen matches and one try scored). At 24, Lançon is returning to the colors of his training club. He will be joined at hooker by Kito Falatea from Dac, who notably played for Bourges and Chambéry. He comes from a well-known family, that of Sipili Falatea, his brother and pillar of the French XV. He is also the uncle of Yoram Moefana, center for Union Bordeaux Bègles and Top 14 finalist this Saturday evening.

CAP has also recruited Tarbais Joeli Matalaweru (24 years old, 2m00, 122 kg). Trained at Brive, the second row has played 17 National matches this season with Stado Tarbes. Still up front, Antoine Bouthier is the fifth recruit from Périgord. This young third row (21 years old) from Perpignan, had his first match sheet in the Top 14 this season, it was during the 6th matchday in Bordeaux. With USAP, he also played a Challenge Cup match two seasons ago.

CAP has clearly invested heavily in youth with the recruitment of Jean-Baptiste Périsse (19 years old, winger). Originally from the Toulouse region, Périsse has just had a great season in the elite U21s with Section Paloise. Finally, Théo Fauguerolles completes the squad at fly-half. The 19-year-old played for Marmande in the National 2 league.
