Tennis: Jannik Sinner takes revenge on Carlos Alcaraz and wins his first Wimbledon

World number 1 Jannik Sinner beat his great rival, two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz (world number 2), on Sunday, July 13, 2025, to win his first Wimbledon title and his fourth Grand Slam title (Australian Open 2024 and 2025, US Open 2024, Wimbledon 2025) at the age of 23.
Just over a month after the epic Roland-Garros final , won in five sets by Alcaraz after saving three match points, the Italian this time won in four sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, against the 22-year-old Spaniard, whom he dominated for the first time since October 2023.

Jannik Sinner, winner of the Australian Open in January, won his second Grand Slam tournament of the season on the London grass and took revenge on Alcaraz, who had managed to retain his title in Paris at the last minute. The first Italian to win Wimbledon, both men and women, he also broke Alcaraz's long unbeaten run, which had reached 24 victories since April, the longest winning streak of his career.
Sinner's Wimbledon victory is his second on grass, following his title at the ATP 500 in Halle, Germany, in 2024, and his first since returning from suspension in early May. After testing positive for an anabolic steroid in March 2024, the world number one negotiated a three-month ban from the tour with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) , given that his contamination was recognized as accidental.

Beaten by Alcaraz in the final of the Masters 1000 in Rome for his comeback tournament, Sinner then lost in the second round at Halle, his only trial run on grass before Wimbledon. That same week, Alcaraz won the title at Queen's.
Sinner is now only eight wins behind in his duels with his younger brother, but the Spanish player has one more title than the Italian in the major tournaments (US Open 2022, Wimbledon 2023 and 2024, Roland-Garros 2024 and 2025). The two players have shared all the Grand Slam titles since the Australian Open won by Jannik Sinner last January.
