Three questions for: Clément Christen, winner of the 21 kilometers in Aubas

Three questions for: Clément Christen, winner of the 21 kilometers in Aubas
With a time of 1 hour 24 minutes 16 seconds, Clément Christen smashed the previous record for the event by six minutes. Boris Rebeyrotte

In addition to having registered the previous evening, Clément Christen, a member of the Cherveix-Cubas club, smashed the event record.

How did you find this race?

It was my first time participating. I made up my mind at the last minute. A friend and I were hesitating. Either we did a normal week of training, or we came to Aubas. The idea is to get into a rhythm. But I admit I struggled. I'm used to longer distances. Over 20 kilometers, I either start too fast or too slow. I struggle to find the right pace. But, in the end, it went well.

Are you satisfied with your time?

Yes, I was hoping to do between 1h24 and 1h25, I'm right on target. Plus, there's a nice downhill at the end, with my long legs, it's easier (laughs). But yes, it's a nice course and I really enjoyed it.

What are your next goals?

This summer, I'll probably do a few races in the area. Then, in October, for the sixth time, I'll participate in the Templiers, in Millau. It's an 80-kilometer race. I'd like to finish under 7:30, even manage to do it in 7:20. But that means getting into the top 15 or even the top 10. We'll see.
