Tour de l'Avenir 2025: a start in the Rhône and a very Alpine edition

The route of the 61st edition of the Tour de l'Avenir will send the young riders to the Rhône over two stages.
From August 23rd to 29th, the 61st edition of the Tour de l'Avenir will take to the roads of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The route, officially unveiled this Tuesday, May 27th in Lyon, is entirely mapped out in the region. Only a finish in the Jura and a passage through Italy will take the riders beyond the borders of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Each year, this race is an opportunity to discover the young talents of the under-23 world of cycling, represented by their national teams. This was notably the case in 2017 for Egan Bernal and in 2018 for Tadej Pogacar, who both won. For the third time, the Tour de l'Avenir will also be a women's event.

From the first stage on Sunday, August 24, the day after a prologue starting in Tignes (Savoie), the young cyclists are expected in the Rhône. After starting in Aosta (Isère), they will spend around a hundred kilometers on the Rhône roads in the towns of Chasselay, Dommartin, La Tour de Salvagny, Pollionnay, Vaugneray, Yzeron and Chazelle-sur-Lyon. The Col des Brosses (15.4 km at 3.2%) will also be crossed.

On Monday 25th, the second stage will start in the Rhône at Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise. The Saint-Laurent climb (5 km at 4.5%) will be used to reach Vitry-en-Charolais (Saône-et-Loire), the finish line, after crossing Sainte-Foy l'Argentière, Saint-Laurent-de-Chamousset, Villechenève and Amplepuis, among other places.
The Tour de l'Avenir will end in La Rosière (Savoie) on Friday, August 29, where two riders will succeed Frenchwoman Marion Bunel and Briton Joseph Blackmore.
