Perugia , Italy's always ranked but never winning in recent years, won their first Volleyball Champions League by resisting the comeback of Zawiercie from Poland (3-2), Sunday in Lodz (Poland). The Umbrian club (center), finalist in 2017 and then systematically present in the Final Four except last year, led two sets to zero (25-22, 25-22) before seeing Zawiercie equalize at 2-2 (25-20, 25-22). But the Poles, winners in the semi-finals of Jastrzebski, another Polish club, after being led two sets to zero, were quickly distanced in the tie-break (5-1, 15-10 in the end).

Perugia, led by Italy captain and setter Simone Giannelli, Tunisian striker Wassim Ben Tara (22 points including 3 aces) and Japanese receiver-attacker Yuki Ishikawa (20 points), followed Trentino, another Italian team, to the top spot. Jastrzebski, where French internationals Benjamin Toniutti and Timothée Carle play, took third place by defeating Halkbank Ankara (3-1).
