Camping at the Beauport Outdoor Center: peaceful and welcoming for all families

Popular with families, easy to access and located close to all services and shops, the Beauport Outdoor Centre has a beautiful wooded campground where you can stop for a few days to visit Quebec City and the surrounding area. The campground, well-equipped in the northeast of the city, is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's a great place to pitch your tent or park your RV when you want to visit Quebec City and participate in its many festivities!
It was over 30 degrees when I arrived at reception. The friendly and cheerful staff provided me with all the information I could need and gave me a laminated map of the campsite, with a plan to get to my site (you have to hand it in when you leave).
The installation was hassle-free since the driveways are wide. The main access road has numerous speed bumps that slow down traffic: the maximum speed is 10 km/h and it is respected, without fail!
Shaded sitesThe shaded sites, most of which are fairly large, are ideal for RVs. A few smaller sites on Canard Street are suitable for tents and small vehicles.
The majority of campers during my visit were in tent trailers, camper trailers, vanlifes , and fifth wheels. They were comfortable and several had enough space to set up a kitchen shelter. At over 30°C, shade is welcome.
The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and familial. Everyone goes about their business, and the numerous beach towels and swimsuits hanging on the clotheslines attest to the pool's popularity! I hear a white-throated sparrow singing, a familiar companion of the campers.
For paddle boardingStand-up paddleboarders are in their element at the Beauport Outdoor Centre, as it is located close to a calmer section of the Montmorency River and a marshy area called Lac du Délaissé.
Since water flow can vary and it is important to know the appropriate sections for SUP on the "Momo", it is recommended to be well informed before launching. It is important to note the phone number of the river lifeguard (418 570-8604) in case of an emergency.
Launching, easier for a SUP than for a canoe or kayak, is done by descending a long staircase that leads to a small dock. We are greeted by a family of ducks and the song of green frogs, invisible, but very present.
Huge dragonflies hunt above the water, and small circles in the water betray the presence of a few hungry fish. A little further on, in a field of water lilies, a very concentrated heron lies in wait, oblivious to the paddlers' conversations.
Ornithology in the cityDid you know? The Beauport Outdoor Centre is also an excellent site for birdwatching: woodpeckers, chickadees, vireos, nuthatches, blue jays, thrushes, warblers, buntings, herons, ducks, and several birds of prey have been recorded in this area.
For the bikeThis campsite is also ideally located for cycling enthusiasts. The multi-purpose trail known as the "Beauportois Corridor" can be accessed from the campsite by crossing Boulevard Louis-XIV.
This 5.7 km corridor provides access to the "Coastal Corridor" via the bike path along the Beauport River. In the wooded area of the Outdoor Centre, there are several trails for hybrid bikes. There are also several hiking trails. In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are available!
