At a White House event unveiling two massive flagpoles, US President Donald Trump repeatedly mocked the media. When asked about divisions among his supporters over a potential foreign war, he dismissed CNN network as irrelevant. He also dodged questions on Iran, and told reporters, “You’re not real people,” while praising nearby construction workers.
At a White House event where he unveiled two 100-foot flagpoles, US President Donald Trump took repeated jabs at the media. A CNN reporter tried to ask Donald Trump about divisions among his supporters over possible US involvement in another foreign war. Trump interrupted immediately, asking, “Who are you with?” When the reporter said CNN, Trump replied, “Fortunately, nobody watches.” He then added sarcastically, “Is anybody watching CNN nowadays? I haven’t seen it in a long time.” As the reporter continued, noting that some of Trump’s supporters were wary of further foreign conflicts while others supported it, Trump continued his attack on the network. “Do you ever ask a positive question at CNN?” he asked. “My supporters are more in love with me today, and I’m in love with them, more than they were even at election time, where we had a total landslide.” He went on to claim he had won “all seven swing states,” and asked, “Did CNN report that?”
At another point, he pointed to the construction workers standing beside him and said, “Let’s see how real people work. These are real people. You’re not real people, your job is too easy,” Trump told reporters.
Asked whether the US was getting closer to striking Iran’s nuclear sites, Trump dismissed the question sharply. “I can’t say that, right? You don’t seriously think I’m going to answer that question,” he said, mocking the reporter’s line of questioning. “What time exactly, sir? Can you tell us so we can be there and watch?” he added sarcastically.
