Israel has reportedly expanded its attacks on Iran by targeting the country's energy sector, striking an onshore refinery at Phase 14 of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf. The attack forced the shutdown of a production platform. A separate fire erupted at the Fajr Jam gas refinery, with initial assessments suggesting possible drone involvement.
Israel attacked an onshore refinery at Phase 14 of Iran's giant South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf on Saturday, as it expanded its assault on the Islamic Republic to targeting its critical energy sector. The hit on the onshore Phase 14 processing plant forced the shutdown of a production platform at the field, according to a report from the semi-official Tasnim news agency. A separate fire also broke out at the Fajr Jam gas refinery, which processes gas from South Pars as well as the Nar and Kangan fields and is one of Iran's largest refineries. An official cause has not been given for the Fajr Jam refinery blaze but initial assessments suggest hostile drones may have been involved, Tasnim reported without giving a source.
