Ozzy Osbourne was inundated with heartfelt tributes from fans and celebrity pals after his family confirmed his death in a shock statement on Tuesday (July 22). A joint open letter, signed by the rock icon’s wife Sharon Osbourne and children Aimee, Kelly and Jack, revealed that he died “surrounded by family” aged 76.

However, just two weeks before, former talk show panellist Kelly strongly denied speculation that Ozzy had a suicide pact with Sharon amid reports of his declining health. Earlier this month, the 40-year-old took to Instagram and raged: “Stop making articles or posts about how you think my parents are having a suicide pact. “That was bulls*** my mom said to get attention one time. And my dad’s not dying. Stop.”

While acknowledging her father’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and his limited mobility stemming from a near fatal 2003 quad bike accident, Kelly insisted he was “not dying.”

Her stern message came after a clip created by artificial intelligence had circulated social media with a voice similar to Ozzy’s saying: “I don’t need a doctor to tell me that I’m going to die. I know I’m going to die.”

As for the suicide pact, Sharon, 72, first made the shocking claim in a 2007 interview.

At the time, the former talent judge claimed: “We believe 100% in euthanasia, [we] have drawn up plans to go to the assisted suicide flat in Switzerland if we ever have an illness that affects our brains.

“If Ozzy or I ever got Alzheimer’s [disease], that’s it we’d be off,” she continued, adding that they couldn’t “put [their] kids through that.”

However, the family later revisited the subject during a 2023 episode of their joint podcast, The Osbourne Podcast as the couple’s son Jack asked his mother if they still had a plan to go to Switzerland.

"Do you think that we're going to suffer?" Sharon replied. To which he said: “Well, maybe! Isn't life already suffering?

“Yes, we all are, but I don't want it to actually hurt, as well," Sharon said: “Mental suffering is enough pain without physical. So, if you've got mental and physical, see ya.” (sic)
