<em>Paradise</em> Season 2: Everything We Know (So Far)

<em>Paradise</em> Season 2: Everything We Know (So Far)
preview for Paradise – official trailer (Disney+/Hulu)

Another apocalypse survivor is about to enter Paradise. Shailene Woodley, star of the dystopian Divergent trilogy, will join Sterling K. Brown in the second season of the Hulu drama. Deadline confirmed the news, alongside reports that season 2 is already filming.

Woodley will reportedly play a prominent survivor when the series returns for a "heavy arc" on the surface. The Big Little Lies actress recently starred in Three Women on Starz and Michael Mann's Ferrari. Now she's joining series creator Dan Fogelman's crazy apocalypse. As fans may recall, special agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) escaped the town of Paradise in the season 1 finale. He solved the mystery of who killed the president (James Marsden)—which I won't spoil here! You can read our finale recap if you want all the insane details. Collins's next plan is to find his wife, who may or may not have survived the calamity. There are likely many more twists headed our way.

According to series creator Dan Fogelman, the "scripts are written" already. "I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with shows that are off the air for a very long time in which people get invested in and then it takes a long time to get it back on television," he told Deadline. "We're ready to go right now and hoping to get this show back on TV in a normal span of time, hopefully the same time as it came out this past year as opposed to waiting multiple years. So if we came out in early 2025, hopefully the next season's out by early 2026."

Variety reported that Paradise garnered roughly 7 million views in its first week across Hulu, Disney+, and ABC. For comparison, Disney previously reported that The Bear season 3 brought in 5.4 million views in its first four days this past June.

The series follows Special Agent Collins on the morning of the president's assassination. As Collins seeks to uncover the murder, several amazing twists follow week by week that unearth new mysteries about the picturesque town of Paradise. The series is created by Dan Fogelman (This Is Us) and also features the talents of Julianne Nicholson (Mare of Easttown) and Krys Marshall (For All Mankind). If you missed the series on Hulu, the network plans to run the series for cable subscribers weekly on ABC starting April 7 at 10:00 P.M. ET.

Sterling K. Brown will return for another season in Paradise.

What Will Happen on Paradise Season 2?

For more concrete answers, you'll have to see what happens in the season 1 finale. For now, all we know is that Fogelman has a three-season arc in mind.

"Without giving away too much, each season of the show is a slightly different show, within the same show with the same characters," Fogelman told The Hollywood Reporter. "There's twists and turns in the course of the season. Then the seventh episode is kind of a stand-alone episode of the show. As we go into second season, we pivot a little bit, but in a way that I think is very follow-able. But yes, there's big moves ahead."

Collins is headed beyond the safety of Paradise next season as he searches for his wife in whatever is left of America on the surface. "As he gets in that plane and takes off on the quest to find his wife," Sterling K. Brown told TVLine ahead of the finale, "He's like, 'I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. I just need to find her.' "
