Brennan Can See Funny Side After Navigation Error Sends Louth Bus Wildly Off Course

Louth's memorable 2025 Championship run ended in Ballybofey on Sunday. Beating the Ulster champions on their own patch was always going to be a tall order, but it was made harder by a navigational error by the Wee County.
Having stayed in a hotel in Enniskillen on Saturday night, the Louth bus took the wrong turn off a roundabout in the Co. Fermanagh town and eventually ended up in Sligo.
They then had to re-route for Ballybofey and finally arrived at MacCumhail Park 45 minutes before throw-in.
A request to have throw-in pushed back 15 minutes was reportedly refused.
A Google map of that journey shows just how awkward it would have been.
Not surprisingly, Louth were slow out of the traps and Donegal went on to claim a convincing win by a scoreline of 2-22 to 0-12.
Had Louth simply left from their centre of excellence that morning, the trip would have arrived in roughly the same amount of time.
Speaking to reporters after the game, manager Ger Brennan put the incident down to a "human error in our navigation".
But at least he could see the lighter side of it all .
He told Off the Ball: "We said we’d have a look at Ben Bulben, a few of the lads hadn’t seen it before.”
Louth manager Ger Brennan reflects on 2025It was a disappointing end to a season that saw Louth win a Leinster trophy for the first time in 68 years.
Brennan was keen to accentuate the positives after the game.
“Look, all journeys do come to the end, but it should be the beginning of something new. We can see where the gaps are.
“Like all first experiences, the jubilation and almost relief and joy that you feel. When you look at 68 years, there were very few of us around.
Donegal, meanwhile, will travel to Croke Park next weekend to meet Ulster rivals Monaghan in what should be a fascinating contest.
