Westmeath are on the look out for a new senior hurling manager following Seoirse Bulfin’s decision to step down after one season in charge.

Westmeath county board confirmed the Limerick native’s decision yesterday and thanked him for his “hard work and commitment" over the past year.

The 2025 season saw the Lake men winning just one of their six outings in Division 1B of the Allianz League before suffering relegation, while the team’s Joe McDonagh Cup campaign saw them winning two of five games.

A 12-point win over Kerry saw Westmeath avoiding relegation in the championship and it’d prove to be Bulfin’s last game at the helm.

Having previously worked as a coach under Davy Fitzgerald in Waterford, Clare and Wexford, Bulfin went on to steer Meath to Christy Ring Cup glory in 2023 before they suffered the drop back down to the third tier at the end of the following season.
