Philly McMahon throws shade at Meath side with belittling dig
The GAA story of the weekend was Meath’s Leinster SFC win over Dublin in Portlaoise, with the Royals becoming the first side the defeat the Sky Blues in the competition since they did so themselves back in 2010.
As it was in 2010, Meath will once again face Louth in the final, with the Wee County looking for revenge after one of the most controversial finishes in championship history denied them the title 15 years ago.
For the Dubs, it means they drop to third seeds for the Sam Maguire series, with Derry as fourth seeds, setting up a potential group of death.

Eight-time All-Ireland winner, Philly McMahon, was covering the game live on the BBC’s GAA Social podcast, and he couldn’t resist a little dig at his county’s rivals.
Making light of the fact that many Dubs live and play in Meath, he referred to the Royal County as Dublin’s ‘second team’.
He said: “The (rivalry) is still there, particularly from the Meath point of view. The big thing with Meath is, there’s a lot of people from Dublin living on outskirts of Dublin now, Ratoath, Ashbourne, Dunshaughlin, Duleek all of these places have a massive amount of Dubs.
“There’s lads I would imagine on the Meath team that are Dubs, I’ve trained a couple of young lads that are Dublin fans playing for Meath.
“We will take that, that’s Dublin’s second team after beating us there, Dublin’s second team is after winning there today. We help the border counties in and around us you know.”
