Sligo Have Assembled A Massively Impressive Coaching Ticket For 2026 Season

There has been no shortage of inter-county vacancies to emerge in recent months, with the likes of Derry, Mayo, and Roscommon (to name but a few) all having seen their managers depart in recent times. While quite a few of the vacant positions have yet to be filled, Sligo have made some waves with their latest set of appointments.
The Connacht side have been on the hunt for a new manager in the aftermath of Tony McEntee's departure earlier this summer. The Armagh native stepped aside from the role that he had filled since 2020, with Sligo making significant strides under his stewardship during that spell.
Sligo have now announced their new coaching ticket, one which certainly caught the eye.

Sligo Assemble Massively Impressive Coaching Ticket For 2026 SeasonSligo have announced their new management team for the 2026 season, with former inter-county players Dessie Sloyan and Eamonn O'Hara being appointed as joint-managers on a three-year term.
That pair have some very impressive recent coaching experience. Sloyan led Sligo U20s to provincial glory in 2022 and has recently been part of the Longford coaching setup.
O'Hara, who is the county's most recent All-Star recipient, has amassed an even more stacked CV at club level. Having led his native Tourlestrane to five consecutive county titles, he would go on to manage Mohill to back-to-back Leitrim titles. He is currently the manager of Roscommon club Boyle.
The joint managers are not the only familiar names that are part of this particular coaching ticket.
They will also be joined by Donegal All-Ireland winner Eamon McGee. The Gweedore man has acted as a coach with the Donegal U20s and club side Buncrana in recent times.
Former Sligo midfielder Con O'Meara will also be part of the setup. O'Meara most recently acted as the joint manager of Coolera-Strandhill, helping them to become the first Sligo club to win the Connacht club title in 2024.
In all, this is a massively impressive coaching ticket.
Sligo will compete in Division 3 of the National Football League ion 2026, while they will also hope to improve upon their Connacht semi-final berth from earlier this summer.
It will be interesting to see how things go for them next season.
