Culture and theater in Manfredonia, the international Apocrypha thanks to Puglia Showcase Kids 2025

The Bottega degli Apocryfi theatre company will be among the protagonists of Puglia Showcase Kids 2025 , an event of international importance that is proposing the city of Bari to become a true global stage dedicated to theatre for new generations, children and young people.

The Puglia Showcase Kids event, organized by Puglia Culture and supported by the Puglia Region , is not only a celebration of Puglia's children's theater, but is also an important opportunity for the local community to internationalize. With the participation of over 35 guests from 16 countries, including China, the United States, and numerous European countries, Puglia Showcase Kids will be a meeting point between Puglia's companies and theater professionals from around the world. The presence of international producers, programmers, and distributors will provide companies with an unmissable opportunity to export their theater internationally.

Tuesday 13 May, starting at 3.30 pm, The Apocrypha will perform their “ Swing Nutcracker ” at the Kursaal Santalucia Theatre in Bari , with an English-language version of a production that has enchanted adults and children in many Italian theatres over the years .

The show in English, before arriving in Bari, will also meet some primary schools of Manfredonia for an extraordinary matinée on Monday 12 May at the Teatro comunale Lucio Dalla.

Freely inspired by Hoffmann, Tchaikovsky and the world of the “Nutcracker”, this work – directed by Cosimo Severo – was born from the desire to bring the little ones closer to music and from the challenge that music played on stage can become dramaturgy and tell a story. The tale of the Nutcracker by Hoffmann and the musical work by Tchaikovsky thus merge into a theatrical and musical show dedicated to the little ones, guarded by toy musicians capable of believing in dreams until they become true.

The show, which " uses the tools of the theater to also guide in a sharp musical research, which ranges from genre to genre and ends up becoming words" as Sergio Lo Gatto writes for teatroragazziosservatorio.it, sees on stage the musicians/actors Fabio Trimigno (violin), Celestino Telera (guitar), Michele Telera (double bass), Michele Rignanese (drums), Rosalba Mondelli (accordion). The dramaturgical gaze is by Stefania Marrone and Cosimo Severo; the musical rewriting from Tchaikovsky is by Fabio Trimigno; the musical collaboration by Celestino Telera, Michele Lorenzo Telera and Michele Rignanese ; lighting design by Luca Pompilio and Cosimo Severo; sound design edited by Amedeo Grasso and Domenico Grasso; video animations by Giovanni Antonio Salvemini.
