Ecoambiente, the shareholders' meeting approves the 2024 budget

The shareholders' meeting was held yesterday morning with the presence of Eda as sole shareholder. 2024 ends positively for EcoAmbiente Salerno Spa, a company that operates under the house providing regime of the Territorial Authority of the province of Salerno. Encouraging data recorded in the first quarter of 2025. The financial year ended 12/31/2024, records a profit of €215,106: for the seventh consecutive financial year, therefore, the company has been able to record an excellent performance. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the company's actions and the ability to carry out an essential public service while conforming its activity to economic criteria.

The excellent results achieved, both in economic-financial terms and in terms of quality of services, make EcoAmbiente Salerno a point of reference for the management of the segment of competence of the provincial waste sector entrusted to it.

In the financial year ending 12/31/2024, a decrease in turnover of €1,918,007 was recorded, down just over 5% compared to the previous financial year: the contraction is mainly attributable to a decrease in the delivery of the undifferentiated fraction in full line with the objectives of the Territorial Area, confirming the quality of the work carried out by both the company and the municipalities and therefore by all the citizens of the province of Salerno. Despite this, the pre-tax result went from €205,915 in 2023 to €379,855, up 84% compared to the previous financial year: the decrease in costs for services by approximately 16% is worth highlighting.

A significant result during the 2024 financial year is represented by the activity of recovery of commercial credits, thanks to analysis and dialogue with the conferring Municipalities. For the first time in the last three financial years, the company achieved a positive gross operating margin, a sign of the ability to create profitability. Another significant result concerns the management of landfills in the post-operation phase, the cost of which is distributed proportionally across all the Municipalities of the province of Salerno. In 2024, management and maintenance costs totaled €2,473,042 compared to €2,768,983 in 2023, a significant decrease that benefits the entire provincial community. “EcoAmbiente Salerno SpA entrusts its human resources with a central role in pursuing corporate objectives. Technical progress and organizational improvements ensure that each employee's potential contribution to results increases, thus promoting the development of a relaxed, proactive and improvement-oriented social climate. Achieving an actual performance level as close as possible to the potential level is therefore the goal that determines the priorities in the choices and actions of human resources management – ​​explains President Nicola Ciancio – During 2024, in continuous dialogue with the social partners, the company role profiles were updated. Following the achievement of further quality certifications, the company intended to identify specific resources and functions that allow monitoring, in agreement with the workers involved, maintaining high standards in the provision of competent services”.

Furthermore, the activities planned for 2024 continue, with particular attention to the digitalization of management, control and budgeting systems, and the implementation of ESG indicator monitoring systems. The company will already proceed with the publication of the first Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for non-listed SMEs during the 2025 financial year, in response to the growing requests for sustainability data from banks, large companies, municipalities and citizens.

"We were convinced that public control, in a delicate sector such as plant management, was the best choice and therefore EdA Salerno entrusted EcoAmbiente Salerno SpA, under a house providing regime, with the management of all public plants serving the integrated cycle of urban waste. The choice made - says EdA president Giovanni Coscia - has proved us largely right, because today EcoAmbiente Salerno, in addition to being a financially healthy company, has improved many processes related to plant management, maintaining or even lowering the disposal rates. The results achieved so far are excellent and see us ready for new challenges and new projects".

Another significant result achieved during the 2024 financial year is represented by the commissioning of the new Casal Velino plant. The multi-material waste selection plant from separate waste collection was entrusted to EcoaAmbiente by the Territorial Area Authority of the Province of Salerno, it has a capacity of 22 thousand tons per year - it is intended for the selection of paper, cardboard, plastic, steel and aluminum from separate waste collection. The modernization and restructuring intervention was financed by the Campania Region through funds from the resources of the FSC 2014-2020. The procedural process was managed by the Territorial Area Authority of the province of Salerno. The selection plant consists of two lines: one for the selection of multi-material and the other for the packaging of the selected material.
