Francavilla Fontana, murder of Brigadier Legrottaglie: Giannattasio remains in prison.

BARI - Camillo Giannattasio, a 57-year-old from Carosino, remains in prison. He was arrested by Taranto's Flying Squad after a few hours of escape on charges of complicity in the murder of 59-year-old Brigadier Carlo Legrottaglie during the firefight on June 12 in Francavilla Fontana. The Lecce Court of Appeal rejected the appeal of the man's defense attorney, Luigi Danucci. The panel's reasoning will be released 45 days later, but the judges evidently deemed the charges against the suspect clear. The pre-trial detention order issued by Brindisi investigating judge Simone Orazio states that, despite being hit by shots fired by his accomplice Michele Mastropietro (who later died in the firefight with police officers), Giannattasio also wanted the Carabiniere's death.
