The States General of infrastructure in the province of Varese were held in Gallarate at MaGa with the participation of governor Attilio Fontana . The work was coordinated by the regional councilor for Infrastructure and Public Works, Claudia Maria Terzi, who promoted the meeting with local authorities to take stock of projects and funding. The Region has invested approximately 270 million euros in infrastructure in the province of Varese in recent years, in addition to the commitment made to channel state and European funding: overall, resources for infrastructure works amount to 1.3 billion euros. "The territory of the province of Varese is central from every point of view - Fontana highlighted - and is an economic engine of European importance. As a Region we are committed to improving connections: we must increasingly allow a dynamic land like ours, citizens and businesses, to move quickly, safely and efficiently".

So the point on projects and investments. Among the works, the extension of the new railway line from Malpensa T2 to Gallarate (the completion of the works is scheduled for the summer), the investment was approximately 264.55 million of which 98 million from the Region. As regards the overall development of the railway connections, interventions are also planned to make the Saronno-Varese-Laveno section of Ferrovienord more efficient, for an investment of 141.2 million euros of which 113.7 million from regional funds. Other projects: the strengthening of the Rho-Gallarate with the works regarding the Rho – Parabiago section which began in 2024 with the end of the intervention scheduled for 2029.

The work is strategic because it will provide the possibility of activating a new suburban line Rogoredo – Parabiago; of creating the direct connection Milano Centrale – Rho Fiera – Malpensa, of strengthening and improving the service up to Gallarate and towards the destinations Varese, Luino and Domodossola in network connection with the cross-border crossings of Sempione and Gottardo. The investment is by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (Mit) and is 969.78 million euros of which 632.18 million already financed.

Again: to strengthen the Luino-Gallarate line and resolve the most critical interferences between the road network and the railway network, 15 level crossings will be eliminated through the creation of an alternative road system, the investment is 42.1 million euros with a regional contribution of 21.8 million. Other interventions financed are the SS 341 'Gallaratese' variant, the redevelopment of the SS 336 Busto Arsizio-Gallarate-Cardano, the strengthening of the intermodal terminal of Sacconago. Furthermore, the Region has allocated resources for the Lake Maggiore Cycle Route (10.8 million euros) and to enhance the lakes through new infrastructural interventions on state-owned areas.
