Italy at 8, triumph in Nations League: Spain defeated with Moscardelli and Di Natale

(Adnkronos) – There is a National team that wins and makes Italy fly to the top of Europe. The Azzurri coached by mister Daniele D'Orto, in fact, won the first Nations League of 8-a-side football by beating Spain on penalties last night, Saturday 21 June, on the pitch of Dabliu Eur in Rome led by an inspired Antonio Di Natale. The semi-finals saw Spain face off, beating Romania 1-0, while Italy beat France thanks to a wonder goal by striker Davide Moscardelli.

The final between Italy and Spain had ended 1-1 in regulation time and also in extra time, but in the penalty shootout the coolness and lucidity of Moscardelli and Totò di Natale and above all the flash of goalkeeper Giuseppe De Bernardo who saved a penalty kick from the Spaniards sparked celebrations. “This extraordinary victory,” commented Andrea Montemurro, president of the Italian Football Confederation, “represents not only a historic achievement for our entire movement but also a source of great pride for all of us in the Confederation. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the coach, the athletes, the technical staff and the fans who supported us with immense warmth, together we have written an unforgettable page.”

There was a huge turnout not only in the stands but also in front of the television screens, as the full live broadcast of the event curated by Sportitalia recorded an audience worthy of the challenges of the senior national team.
