Light signals on the Canin, rescuers in action but it was a speleological camp

Light signals on the Canin, rescuers in action but it was a speleological camp

A suspected call for help kept the Cave del Predil Alpine Rescue team and the Sella Nevea Financial Police busy all night. The response, which began around 11:00 PM yesterday, was triggered by a hiker's report. While heading toward the Gilberti Refuge, he noticed flashing lights and heard calls from the Bila Pec slab area.

The teams, mobilized by Sores, reached the hiker and attempted, unsuccessfully, to establish contact with the lights they had spotted. Meanwhile, the managers of the Gilberti Refuge had already provided crucial information, speculating that the signals could be coming from a nearby speleology camp.

As a team moved toward the lights along trail 636a, which leads to Sella Poviz, further updates arrived. Around 1:00 a.m., it was confirmed that the situation was under control at both existing speleological camps, one on Bila Pec and the other on Mount Leupa.

Once the nature of the light signals had been ascertained, the rescue teams returned to the valley around 3 a.m., completing the operation without any injuries.
