Music under the stars: Summer 2025 in Rome is a great concert

Summer in the Capital is not only synonymous with sunny days and evenings dedicated to clubs and aperitifs, but also with a musical program that transforms the city into an open-air stage. From iconic festivals like the Roma Summer Fest at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and the Casa del Jazz , to the energy of Rock in Roma at the Ippodromo delle Capannelle and the great evenings at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome is ready to welcome international artists, legends of Italian music and new voices ready to conquer the public.

Roma Summer Fest at the Auditorium Parco della Musica & Casa del Jazz

The Auditorium Parco della Musica has been hosting the Roma Summer Fest for several years now, which transforms the Cavea into a theater under the stars where international legends and protagonists of Italian music alternate. It is a regular event for anyone who wants to experience great music in a refined but accessible context, between the architecture of Renzo Piano and the greenery of the Parco della Musica.

This year's program, already underway since June 5 and active until September 20, 2025, confirms the cosmopolitan vocation of the festival: it goes from the alternative rock of Afterhours (July 5), to the timeless magic of Sting (July 7), who returns to Rome for an essential live, in trio, with a setlist that spans decades of history of pop and rock music. Afterwards, on July 12, the electronic atmospheres of Jamie XX will enliven the Roman evening, while the following week the Cavea lights up for two consecutive nights with the intensity of Nick Cave (July 21 and 22), who will retrace the most important stages of his career with his most beloved classics.

It will also be possible to take a dive into the 90s with Alanis Morissette (July 24), and immerse yourself in sound innovation with the live performances of Sigur Rós , expected together with Piemme Project Ensemble for a double date on September 12 and 13 in the prestigious Sala Santa Cecilia.

Rock in Rome

When summer arrives, the Ippodromo delle Capannelle transforms into a stage for the longest-running and most eclectic festival in the capital, Rock in Roma , now in its fifteenth edition. Here, great artists take turns every evening, offering a range of musical styles, from rock to rap, through alternative and pop.

Among the many names in this year's lineup, there is also the revelation of Sanremo 2025, Lucio Corsi , who on June 21 brought his poetic and surreal universe to the stage, perfect for those who love indie sounds and singer-songwriter experimentation.

On July 15th it will be the turn of Ghali , an authentic protagonist of the national urban pop scene, followed on July 16th by The Black Keys , masters of contemporary rock, ready to drag the audience into an atmosphere of pure energy.

July 19th will be a special date: at the Auditorium Parco della Musica , in the magical setting of the Cavea, the concert of Joe Bonamassa , international blues-rock virtuoso, is highly anticipated, while the trap of Sfera Ebbasta will arrive at the Capannelle Hippodrome.

Other dates to mark on your calendar are July 22nd , when the music of Irama , a singer-songwriter capable of captivating the most diverse generations, will arrive on stage, and July 24th, when Luchè will perform, giving voice to the new directions of the Italian urban scene. The grand finale is August 1st with The Smashing Pumpkins , an iconic and much-loved band, which promises to close the edition with an unforgettable live show.

Stadio Olimpico: the summer arena of great music

This year too, the Stadio Olimpico will be the stage for some of the most anticipated concerts of the Roman summer music season.

One of the dates to look out for is July 2nd , with the return of Marco Mengoni , who will bring to the stage a tour focused on his latest successes and the usual intensity of a true performer.

On July 10, 11 and 13 it will be Ultimo 's turn, with the Roman singer-songwriter preparing to enchant the Olimpico once again after the sold out shows recorded last year. Afterwards, the stage will be all for Cesare Cremonini , who will conclude his summer tour in Rome with two consecutive dates, on July 17 and 18, which have already sold out.

As for international voices, on July 30th the K-pop idols Stray Kids will land in Rome, with the one in the capital representing the only Italian stop for the South Korean band, while on August 2nd the stage will be shared by two legends of hip-hop and R&B, Kendrick Lamar and SZA , who will bring their “Grand National Tour” to the Olimpico.

Casa del Jazz: concerts immersed in greenery

Casa del Jazz also confirms its position as one of the reference locations for the Roman summer, with a lineup that plans to entertain with sophisticated music and a relaxed atmosphere.

In fact, the Summertime 2025 festival will be held until August 9, the result of the collaboration between the Municipality and the Fondazione Musica per Roma, with more than 60 evening events scheduled, including acoustic sets, international performances and original projects – all created under the summer sky, among the trees of the park.

Among the dates to mark on your calendar is, for example, July 1st, when the international funk-soul of Incognito will arrive on stage, a true point of reference for those who love groove, rhythm and improvisation.

August also brings with it many evenings not to be missed: on the 1st, for example, it will be possible to be enchanted by the voice of Raphael Gualazzi , refined, intense and always surprising, while on the 2nd August, instead, the absolute protagonist will be Danilo Rea , one of the reference pianists of Italian jazz, who together with the Orchestra Nazionale Jazz Giovani Talenti , directed by Paolo Damiani, will give life to a live performance full of pathos and virtuosity.

On August 6, the festival welcomes Filippo Graziani , who will perform in a concert that promises to combine the tradition of Italian singer-songwriter music with an intimate and cozy setting, perfect for ending a season of live music under the stars in style.
