Nadia: "The truth is that we need ten 5 per thousand."

N adia is 78 years old, lives in Bologna, has been retired for 22 years, and has been a grandmother for 18: "Since I've been around, I've never filed a 730 without expressing my choice. I know mine is just a drop in the bucket, but I feel it's a moral duty; I don't understand anyone who doesn't sign that." And who is the choice for? "It's not easy: large organizations may offer more security, but at the same time they definitely have higher overhead costs. At first, I mainly allocated it to them, but I changed the recipient each time. The truth is, a 5 per thousand isn't enough; it would take ten!" she smiles.
After the big names, Nadia donated her 5 per thousand to the Food Bank for a few years. Then, together with her husband, they found a "balance": "We recently joined Oreundici, an association that focuses on the spirituality of everyday life. I think there's a great need for this in our world, because man does not live by bread alone. For us, they are an important point of reference, and being small, they need support: therefore, one of our 5 per thousand always goes to them. The other, for a few years, we have been donating to the Lega del Filo d'Oro: seeing our grandchildren "capture everything" with their eyes and ears, we felt the need to stand by those who don't have this opportunity."
And then he adds: "Of course, with the current international tragedies, the new emergencies, and so much suffering that has been sown throughout the world... I don't rule out the possibility that next year we'll have another discussion to figure out what choices to make."
