«Padua paralyzed by too many construction sites, the mayor should intervene»: Fabio Bui's attack

«Padua paralyzed by too many construction sites, the mayor should intervene»: Fabio Bui's attack

"The approaching deadline of the PNRR for the completion of the works in 2026 is adding construction sites to construction sites throughout the province: today, travelling on any route becomes a labyrinth, and the city of Padua is an emblem of this. Congested traffic, endless construction sites: urban mobility lives in a daily nightmare". This is reported by Fabio Bui, a Paduan politician of the Popolari per il Veneto, who launches a very harsh indictment against the management of traffic and city roads.

Bui adds: «Every morning, tens of thousands of workers arrive in Padua from municipalities in the urban belt and from the entire province. But today they are left alone: stuck in sudden diversions, disconnected traffic lights, without a coordinated plan or concrete alternatives. The picture is dramatic: kilometer-long queues from Ponte San Nicolò, Vigodarzere, Rubano, Selvazzano and along the SR47 Valsugana, simultaneous construction sites opened in key points without system logic and integration between urban and intermodal mobility (train, bus, bike). A city that in the summer period risks penalizing those who produce and work in the heart of the city that are penalized on a daily basis. You can't ask a craftsman to get to the center by passing through a labyrinth of prohibitions and diversions. Since the mayor combines the two responsibilities of mayor of Padua and president of the Province, he should open a discussion table with the mayors of the municipalities, to coordinate the interventions on the main roads».

Bui concludes: «The "do it yourself" is the enemy of organization and is not suitable for those who have planning responsibilities, so as not to penalize the productive fabric already in serious crisis due to other missed strategic choices at regional and national level and by international contingencies. This is a territory where more time is spent in queues than at work. This is not progress, it is inefficiency: if Padua wants to be an economic and university capital, solutions are needed».
