Palermo Comic Convention: the myth of the sirens of Addaura in the poster of the tenth edition

Vibrant and exciting: the tenth edition of Palermo Comic Convention, scheduled from 11 to 14 September 2025 at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, promises to be an extraordinary event, ready to celebrate a decade of passion for comics, cinema, video games and pop culture in all its forms.

Kicking off the celebrations is the presentation of the official poster, created by Maurizio Rosenzweig, a multifaceted artist and one of the most original voices in the Italian comics scene. For this special edition, Rosenzweig has chosen to reinterpret the myth of the sirens of Addaura, drawing inspiration from the famous prehistoric graffiti discovered in a cave near Palermo.

The work, with a strong visual and symbolic impact, blends archaeology, Mediterranean myth and contemporary imagery, giving life to a composition rich in suggestions. Human figures, half-fish beings and men with avian features intertwine in a visual story that evokes ancient pagan rites, reinterpreted with the unmistakable style of the author.

There is no shortage of references to the world of comics: among the most obvious quotes stands out Robert Crumb, the father of underground comics, whom Rosenzweig recognizes as one of his main masters. The poster also hosts numerous iconic characters, some of which were born directly from the artist's imagination.

To create this complex and layered image, Rosenzweig used three different techniques on three separate drawings, later harmonized in a single composition. The result is a lively, powerful and profoundly POP poster, capable of telling with irony and wonder the hybrid, creative and visionary identity of Palermo.
