Sold out for the 'Guided tastings in Udine's museums'

Over 150 participants in total , places sold out for all events and enthusiastic feedback : the first edition of the “Guided tastings in the museums of Udine” event, promoted by the Consorzio Tutela Vini Friuli Colli Orientali e Ramandolo in collaboration with the Municipality of Udine , has ended successfully. An original project that has been able to innovatively blend wine and culture, transforming the beauty of the city’s museums and art venues into scenarios for narrated and participatory tastings. Led by Matteo Bellotto and Francesco Scalettaris , the meetings have offered a unique sensorial and intellectual experience , where wine has become a language for telling history, science, philosophy and myth.
The four events were held – from March to May – between the Casa della Contadinanza “Heresies and heretical wines”, Casa Cavazzini “Experimentations and innovations”, Palazzo Antonini-Stringher “Deception and evolution” and the Ethnographic Museum : “Legendary wines and hidden legends”.
The event was born from the belief that wine should not only be an object of tasting, but a tool to tell other stories . “We believe that wine becomes a true protagonist when it can be a vehicle for stories, culture, emotions – explain the Consortium’s communication consultants, Matteo Bellotto and Francesco Scalettaris -. We wanted to go beyond the classic wine narration and open it to a wide audience, even those who know little about wine. We saw many young people participate, many women, and a plurality of experiences that made each evening unique. The feedback we received confirms that we are going in the right direction”.
Each evening, six wines told through six different producers: 24 wineries in total , selected to represent the best of the Colli Orientali del Friuli.
The audience – varied and intergenerational – rewarded the cultural, but not elitist, approach. There was no shortage of enthusiastic comments: “ I have never tasted wine among works of art” , “ I felt welcomed even as an inexperienced person” , “it is the best way to discover the museums of your city” .
Applause from the municipal administration. Federico Pirone, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Udine: “We are very satisfied with the success of this event, the result of a virtuous collaboration between the Municipality of Udine and the Consortium. Bringing the wine excellence of our territory to the museums and cultural sites of the city was a winning choice, which was able to unite two fundamental elements of our identity: the culture of art and that of good living. This initiative has demonstrated how it is possible to enhance our artistic heritage and our food and wine traditions in an original and engaging way, creating experiences that speak not only to tourists, but also and above all to our community. The hope is that this path will continue, increasingly strengthening the bond between culture and territory”.
The Councilor for Tourism and Major Events, Alessandro Venanzi , also added: “This review focuses on two issues: the different use of cultural sites, to make them increasingly accessible to different types of people, due to demographic and interest issues, and the link with the Consortium, strengthened and intensified in light of the path we are taking on the Food District and the valorization of the excellence and food and wine products of our region. The Consortium is the right interlocutor to be able to undertake a virtuous path that will bring attention to the city of Udine and more generally to the Udine area”.
