Star Trek: Starfleet Academy: Trailer and Cast Revealed for New Series

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy: Trailer and Cast Revealed for New Series

The future of Starfleet is starting from scratch. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy , the new series in the saga that began in the 1960s and is set in the 32nd century, debuted at San Diego Comic-Con with a first trailer and the unveiling of the full cast, as Variety reports . The story centers on young cadets struggling to rebuild a world after more than a century of the Federation's absence from Earth.

Leading the Academy is Holly Hunter in the dual role of Chancellor Nahla Ake and captain of the USS Athena. Paul Giamatti will play the "villain" Nus Braka, a mysterious figure with Klingon and Tellarite alien roots.

The protagonists are a diverse and original team: from the disillusioned orphan Caleb (Sandro Rosta) to the female hologram Sam (Kerrice Brooks), the first of her kind to enter the Academy. There's also a budding Klingon doctor, an aristocratic heir, and an admiral's daughter determined to shine on her own merits. Scheduled for early 2026 on Paramount+, the series—as Variety explains—aims to bring Gene Roddenberry's beloved idea of hope back to the forefront, offering a fresh look at the challenges of the Star Trek universe.
