The big trial is coming to Tolmezzo, with the team world championship in September.

Carnia is preparing to welcome the best trial specialists. The Moto Club Carnico, named after Tony Craighero, is working to organize the "Trial of Nations," the world team championship of the specialty. The event, previously hosted in the region in 2011, is scheduled for Friday, September 19th to 21st in Tolmezzo. An international trials event returns to the Alpine region of Friuli Venezia Giulia after four years: in 2021, two stages of the individual world championship were organized.

The event will be supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and Promoturismo, the Municipality of Tolmezzo, the Carnia Mountain Community, the Mountain Catchment Basin, and the Pordenone-Udine Chamber of Commerce. A total of approximately one hundred riders will compete in Tolmezzo. Thirty nations and four continents will be represented, creating a race that will combine sport, tourism, and the promotion of Carnia and Friuli Venezia Giulia in general. Over the race weekend, approximately five hundred people will be staying in the heart of Carnia.

The "Trial of Nations" will begin on Friday, September 19th, with the opening of the paddock in the center of Tolmezzo. Administrative checks will take place on Saturday the 20th, and access to the training area will be granted, with riders inspecting the controlled areas. At 6:00 PM on Saturday, the participating nations will parade through the streets of the city center. This will be followed by the team presentations. The race will begin at 8:30 AM on Sunday (from Piazza XX Settembre), with the awards ceremony scheduled for around 3:00 PM.

Trials is a discipline that rewards not speed, but rather the rider's technical, balance, and riding skills. The race course is characterized by controlled and marked areas, where the rider's ability to navigate them is judged and, if necessary, penalized based on errors by trial officials. There are multiple categories, and the winner is the rider who makes the fewest mistakes.
