The video of him, armed with a pressure washer, sweeping the town hall square has been circulating on TikTok, with hundreds of views that are giving it huge popularity. But Arnaldo Pitton , mayor of Meduna di Livenza, in the province of Treviso, downplays the issue: "My account was created by kids, and I only publish videos to reach them. And if this helps educate and foster civic duty in them, I'm proud." The video was filmed a month ago by some municipal employees who, one morning, saw him wearing overalls and going down to the town hall square (housed in a 16th-century building) and sweeping it with a pressure washer. Pitton had decided to do the job because the town's only sanitation worker was busy with other urgent tasks. "I don't think I've done anything strange," he said. "We're struggling with staff, but the work needs to be done. I'll do what I can."
