The Prefect of Arezzo visits the 118 Operations Center

Arezzo, August 5, 2025 – This morning, the Prefect of Arezzo, Clemente Di Nuzzo, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff, Leandro Peraino, visited the 118 Operations Center to express his thanks to the operators who provide an essential service to the community every day.
The visit took on a particularly significant significance in light of yesterday's serious accident on the A1 motorway, between Valdarno and Arezzo, which required a significant coordinated effort by emergency health services, law enforcement, and firefighters.
The Prefect was welcomed by Simone Nocentini, director of the 118 Operations Center in Arezzo, Luca Pancioni, disaster manager nurse of the ASL Toscana Sud Est, and Gabriele Taddei, nursing director of the Professional Emergency-Urgency Operations Unit of the ASL Toscana Sud Est, and the volunteer associations. During the meeting, the Prefect was able to inspect the internal organization of the Center, which allows for widespread coverage of the entire provincial territory, guaranteeing rapid and effective interventions in any context, whether urban or peripheral.
The use of cutting-edge technologies was also illustrated, including telemedicine systems provided to healthcare personnel, which allow for the acquisition and transmission of cardiac tracings in real time, improving the quality of intervention and the timeliness of clinical decisions.
"I wanted to be here today to personally express my gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and workers of the Arezzo Territorial Emergency System, as well as to the volunteers of the associations, who represent a fundamental safeguard for the safety and health of citizens," said the Prefect of Arezzo, Clemente Di Nuzzo.
What happened yesterday on the A1 motorway once again demonstrates the importance of an efficient, professional service that is always ready to intervene promptly and effectively. "The Prefect's presence honors us and reinforces the sense of responsibility that guides our work every day," emphasized Simone Nocentini, director of the 118 Operations Center.
Our commitment is to guarantee, thanks to a solid organization, a close-knit team and cutting-edge technologies, a fast, competent and personal service throughout the province of Arezzo".
