Trump signs G7 final document, leaves Canada early: clash over Putin and Macron, warning to Tehran

The Kananaskis Summit

He left Kananaskis , the location chosen by Canada to host the G7 in the heart of the Rocky Mountain region, a day early. Donald Trump never ceases to amaze and, in yet another surprise move, on Monday he brought forward his return to Washington by a day.
A move, his staff initially announced, to return to the White House and personally deal with the delicate situation in the Middle East , where the conflict between Israel and Iran has been ongoing since Thursday night, with mutual bombings.
Before leaving, the US president signed the final document of the Canadian G7, a decision that seemed unlikely on the eve of the summit hosted by the host, Prime Minister Mark Carney . In the document, the leaders call for a de-escalation in the conflict between Israel and Iran and a truce in Gaza. "We reaffirm our commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East," the document reads. "In this context, we affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself. We reaffirm our support for Israel's security. We also affirm the importance of protecting civilians. Iran is the primary source of instability and terror in the region." A document in which, despite the fact that it was Israel that attacked Iran on Thursday night, the G7 countries reaffirm Tel Aviv's right to defend themselves first and foremost.
Both during and after the Kananaskis summit, there was no shortage of controversy from Trump and other leaders.
Trump spoke about Russia , saying that “throwing them out” in 2014 from what was once the G8 “was a mistake” because “I don’t think we would be having a war right now if Russia was in.” Whose fault? Trump blames Russia’s exit from the G8, which occurred following the invasion and annexation of Crimea , on former US President Barack Obama and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau .
Not only that. According to the US president, his early return to Washington has “nothing to do with a ceasefire” between Israel and Iran, referring to a background story published by the website Axios. “French President Emmanuel Macron , for publicity, falsely claimed that I left the G7 summit in Canada to return to Washington to work on a ‘ceasefire between Israel and Iran. False!”, wrote Trump on his social network Truth. Macron “has no idea why I am now traveling to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a ceasefire. It’s much bigger than that. Whether he likes it or not, Emmanuel never understands that,” Trump added.
The US president, however, reportedly ordered the national security team to meet in the White House Situation Room to assess the possibility of a meeting with the Iranians. Then, after leaving the G7 early, he published a post on Truth that read: “ Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran .”
