Varese, molestation and abuse of underage volleyball players: a shock, who ends up in handcuffs

Horror in Varese , a city in shock. A 53-year-old man, a volleyball coach , was arrested on charges of sexual violence against some underage athletes of his team. The arrest, carried out by the Carabinieri on the order of the judge for preliminary investigations, was triggered following an investigation started in November 2024 , when one of the young victims found the courage to report the abuse.

The investigations have brought to light "concrete evidence" of episodes of violence involving girls between the ages of 13 and 16, which occurred during training sessions or at the end of matches. It all started when one of the girls, after confiding in her mother, decided to file a complaint. She told the police that she had been subjected to severe harassment by the coach : the man, taking advantage of the occasions in which he accompanied her home after matches or during training, allegedly subjected her to insistent groping. The girl described the climate as one of discomfort and fear, an unbreathable climate that pushed her to break the silence and report the matter.

Investigations conducted by law enforcement confirmed the accusations, revealing a pattern of disturbing behavior . In the municipal gym, where training was held, the coach allegedly exploited his position of authority to harass the athletes, touching them repeatedly and, in some cases, groping them in their private parts. The evidence gathered convinced the authorities to intervene: the 53-year-old was arrested and transferred to prison, where he remains at the disposal of justice.
