What Happens When Art and Economics Join Hands in Class

The ninth edition of Grande!, a financial education initiative by Bper Banca dedicated to the last three classes of primary schools throughout Italy, has concluded with the participation of more than 800 schools, 1600 classes and 41 thousand students.

The aim of the project? To explain in a simple and fun way the basic concepts of economics and savings, through the language of art . In particular, the students also had the opportunity to participate in a creative competition that, through the technique of street art , involved them in the design, together with their class, of a mural inspired by the themes of the project.

Adherence to the initiative, according to the numbers released by Bper, was the highest ever recorded. "We are proud of our financial education project that year after year continues to give us important results and growing participation", underlines Serena Morgagni , head of communication at Bper.

In the edition just concluded, he adds, "we have registered an unprecedented involvement with the participation of classes from all the regions of Italy. Great! It shows that it is capable of speaking to the new generations with effective languages and tools, combining financial education with artistic suggestions . A combination", he underlines, "original and very stimulating, which tells the story of the economy through the beauty of culture".

The ten winning classes received teaching materials such as interactive whiteboards, books, PCs and printers. The first place will be given the opportunity, next September, to create the mural with the help of a professional writer .

Renewed, during the last edition of Grande! , the collaboration with Librì progetti educativi and La galleria Bper banca in the creation of the educational kit for young students, produced both in paper and digital form. A kit designed to facilitate the learning of the proposed economic concepts and to be accessible and inclusive, thanks to simplified reading systems to support students with learning difficulties and audio tracks for those with visual disabilities.

The kit is also made with respect for the environment, using Forest Stewardship Council – FSC certified paper and without lamination and adopts a language attentive to gender equality.
