Mittelfest: Dance and music premieres tomorrow

WATCH THE VIDEO The 34th edition of Mittelfest gets into full swing, opening yesterday evening with the official ceremony in the church of San Francesco in the Ducal city. Two world premieres of dance and music are expected tomorrow: again in the Church of San Francesco, in the evening, Messaggeri will be performed, a world premiere by the Arearea company together with the Coro Polifonico di Ruda. This will be followed, in Piazza Duomo, by the national premiere of Sevdalinka, a concert by the Bosnian group Divanhana. For the first time in Italy, the group offers an original reinterpretation of the ancient Balkan musical genre of sevdalinka, combining slow melodies and dance impulses.
Mario Anzil, Deputy Governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia with responsibility for Culture, who attended yesterday's inauguration, recalled how over these 34 years, Mittelfest has "anticipated the vision we have today for the cultural role of our region as a border and frontier land."
