Etra launches a training project for apprentice drivers
The driver shortage is now a problem and companies are equipping themselves to make the job more attractive.
This is also the case of Etra, a fully publicly owned multi-utility company responsible for managing the integrated water and waste management service in the Brenta River basin, which extends from the Asiago Plateau to the Euganean Hills, including the Bassano area, the Alta Padovana area, and the urban belt of Padua.
As part of its activities, Etra Spa, a benefit company, has launched a professional training project for waste collection apprentices and drivers. This will allow selected participants to obtain, free of charge, the C license and the corresponding CQC Merci (driver qualification card for the transport of goods), required to drive Etra's waste collection vehicles. The company will cover the cost of the two required professional qualifications (C license and CQC Merci), while also offering a permanent apprenticeship contract.
In this way, the multi-utility offers an opportunity to enter the world of work and acquire the necessary skills and qualifications for use in environmental services free of charge.
"Given the difficulty in finding drivers with a class C license and CQC certification on the job market," says Etra President Flavio Frasson, "the company has decided to develop them. The selection process for this innovative, unprecedented project was published on the company website on July 9, 2025, and the deadline for submitting applications is July 27, 2025." The requirements are: age between 18 and 29, a class B license, a middle school diploma, availability to work shifts and outdoors, both in winter and summer, a motivation to work in a team, and a commitment to attending driving school.
