Sky TG24: Fabio Vitale will be the new director starting September 15th.

A shortlist of directors has been selected for Sky TG24, following the promotion of current director Giuseppe De Bellis to the role of Executive Vice President of Sport, News, and Entertainment. Sky has announced the appointment of Fabio Vitale as the new director of Sky TG24. He will lead the all-news program starting September 15, reporting to De Bellis, who now leads the new management team, which brings together all of Sky's pay-per-view and free-to-air content under a single leadership.
Fabio Vitale, previously head of the Central Office, joins Sky TG24 after a twenty-year career in journalism, Sky writes, "marked by constant growth and a deep knowledge of the news outlet, where he has worked in key and diverse roles."
Thirty-nine years old, born in Catania, he "took his first steps in journalism at a very young age, collaborating with local daily and weekly sports magazines, then moving on to Il Giornale di Sicilia, where he covered crime and legal news. In 2007, he joined Sky TG24, initially as a correspondent for Sicily, immediately distinguishing himself for his expertise and versatility. His growth within the news network was rapid: after a stint as news coordinator, in 2010 he began hosting the morning editions, becoming one of the most familiar faces in the daily news program."
But it was with his hosting of "Confronti" (Confrontations) between party leaders, "a successful format and a true symbol of Sky TG24, that Vitale established himself as one of the main political anchors and stood out for his ability to guide public debate with balance and authority. During the COVID-19 health emergency, he also spearheaded a unique initiative by the news program: he hosted the newscast from home, ensuring continuous information and an open channel between citizens and current events at a critical time for the country."
Furthermore, Sky concludes the statement, "during its career, it has also created the political program "Tribù," and in the fall of 2024, the talk show "Materia Grigia," a space for in-depth debate that rigorously and plurally addresses complex and often divisive issues, with a format inspired by a model of fair and regulated debate: limited timeframes, balanced replies, and timely fact-checking."
