Spain and Greece conquer Italians on holiday

Italy-Spain ends 3-3 in the “Regular League” or, better, in the Top 10 of destinations booked by Italians for summer 2025. For the Azzurri, Olbia (third in the ranking), Catania (seventh) and Lampedusa (eighth) scored, while La Roja replied with Barcelona (first), Ibiza (fourth) and Tenerife (tenth). Also in the ranking are Paris (second), Mykonos (fifth), Tirana (sixth) and London (ninth). This was revealed by a study conducted by the online travel agency eDreams Odigeo which analyzed the bookings made on its platforms from September 30, 2024 to May 19, 2025 to travel from June 1 to August 31, comparing them with data from a year ago. In the championship reserved for Italian tourist destinations that are recording the highest growth rate compared to 2024, in addition to the Italian Lampedusa (+33%) and Pantelleria (+26%) and the Spanish Malaga (+73%) and Valencia (+33%), there are also the Greek locations Candia (+47%) and Mykonos (+27%) as well as Casablanca (+67%), Sharm el-Sheikh (+65%), Larnaca (+62%) and Edinburgh (+28%).
Such is the desire of Italians to 'disconnect' that it has led them to organize their holidays since last spring (61% of cases), between 60 and 90 days before (21%) and between 31 and 60 days before departure (14%). Only 4% of travellers are aiming for the 'last minute'. Furthermore, in 34% of cases, eDreams Odigeo users have booked a holiday of between 7 and 13 days, in 25% between 3 and 4 days, in 18% between 5 and 6 days, in 13% of 2 weeks and in 10% of just 48 hours. As for departures, 37% are planned by June, 32% in July and 31% in August. Sunshine permitting.
