Efsa Vademecum to avoid risks in the consumption of plant-based foods

On World Health Day Food Security which is celebrated tomorrow 7th June on the proposal of the WHO and FAO, the Safe2Eat campaign, promoted by EFSA with the Ministry of Health, informs, for the fifth year consecutive, on the risks of diseases arising from food plant origin. A five-point vademecum, drawn up for the occasion, helps consumers prevent the risk of disease foodborne transmission from food sources vegetable, better known as Anoa, and additives. Among the advice: wash food in water, by immersion; keep Separate raw and cooked foods to prevent contamination crosses; use clean utensils, cutting boards and surfaces for different types of foods; wash your hands thoroughly before and after handling; store perishable foods in refrigerator at a temperature below 4ºC to slow down or block bacterial growth. This year the Safe2Eat campaign extends to 23 countries, certifying an increase compared to the 18 of 2024 and will last until in mid-November. "As European consumers need to move within a complex food landscape, it turns out it is essential to put them in a position to make choices informed", says Bernhard Url, Executive Director of EFSA. «The Safe2Eat campaign - he underlines - builds a bridge between food safety science and decisions daily, offering clear and practical information that contribute to consolidating consumer confidence".
