Record heat, red alert still in effect in Palermo. Cities with orange alerts

Maximum heat alert is in effect today, Wednesday, July 23, in Italy. The heatwaves that have characterized recent days continue, especially in central and southern Italy. According to the Ministry of Health's bulletin, the number of cities with a yellow alert will increase from 1:00 PM yesterday to 5:00 PM, with Palermo remaining on a red alert. The fire risk is increasing throughout Sicily, and the risk remains at Level 3 (risk to the health of the general population), as is the case in Molise.

The orange cities, which yesterday affected 5 cities, dropped to zero today and then returned again in 5 cities tomorrow: Bari, Messina, Perugia, Pescara and Reggio Calabria).
Less hot in the NorthOf the 27 monitored provincial capitals, the green weather (no risk of heat waves) continues to be predominantly in the North, with a few exceptions: today Naples and Viterbo, while tomorrow Civitavecchia should also be cooler.
Fire risk in SicilyFire risk across almost all of Sicily. The warning issued by the regional Civil Protection Department is valid from midnight tonight and for the next 24 hours. The city of Palermo is also under a red flag due to the risk of heat waves: maximum temperatures will be 36 degrees Celsius tomorrow and 39 degrees Celsius the day after tomorrow.
