Santo Stefano Lodigiano (Lodi) – A new round of voting has arrived: polls are open today, Sunday 25 May, from 7am to 11pm, and tomorrow, Monday 26 May, from 7am to 3pm . There are 18 municipalities in Lombardy voting to choose the mayor and renew the Council, only one in the province of Lodi: Santo Stefano Lodigiano .
It will be a three-way challenge. The former mayor Marinella Testolina, a nurse, 57 years old, who, due to the resignation of many councilors with the subsequent administration of the Municipality, had to interrupt her mandate, is trying for an encore at the helm of the civic list Continuità e Futuro. Also running for mayor is the civic group Il Bene Comune, with mayoral candidate Paola Rossi, a 52-year-old professional educator - Adult Autism Area Representative for the Piacenza Local Health Authority. “From our love for our land comes a concrete program for the future, divided into 8 strategic areas,” they assure. The objectives: listening spaces, promotion of associations and volunteering and creation of neighborhood committees; collaboration with the parish to support families; strengthening relationships with neighboring municipalities; attention to nursery schools, strengthening home health care, support for the elderly, enhancing civil protection; relaunching the local economy , promoting neighborhood trade and new job opportunities, through the installation of information totems and noticeboards; implementation of video surveillance, coordination between law enforcement agencies, streamlining of public lighting and relaunching neighborhood watch , activating a surveillance service with neighboring towns; promotion of cultural, gastronomic and social events , enhancement of the library and promotion of festivals; redevelopment of the road system, with particular attention to the Chiavicone area and the hamlets, removal of architectural barriers, redevelopment of street furniture, promotion of energy efficiency; incentives for slow tourism, protection of green areas and creation of dog areas; support for sports activities, requalifying meeting spaces and promoting educational and cultural projects; introduction of the Youth Municipal Council; adaptation of the PGT to the Provincial Coordination Plan”.
Finally, the Uniti per ripartire list that is nominating Mauro Bonfanti, 57, an employee living in Codogno, a former minority councilor, a councilor from 1996 to 2006 in Codogno in the Croce Council, as mayor.
